Mr Majnu is one such film which is very important for Akhil's career as his last two films got mixed response. He has put a lot of expectations from Mr Majnu, who has come on screen today. Let us see if the film gives Akhil his much needed hit.
Mr Majnu Movie Story
Vicky (Akhil) is a playboy who does not believe in serious relationships. This is the time when Nikki (Nidhi Agarwal) falls in love with Vicky and proposes to him. Left with no choice, Vicky accepts her proposal and this is when problems arise in the love story and the couple part ways. The rest of the story is how Vicky takes things into his own hands and wins his love bac
Mr Majnu Movie Plus Point
The premise of the film is contemporary as a regular story is set in the backdrop of London and it looks good on screen. Akhil has developed quite well as compared to his previous films. In terms of looks and performance, he does well in his role of playboy and dances brilliant
Nidhhi Agerwal is the star of the film as she gets a meaty role and performs with perseverance. She has the looks and talent to make it big and was quite skilled in her emotional character portraying multiple colors.
Hyper Aadi saves the second half to some extent with his comedy. Priyadarshi also has some fun with Akhil in the first half and his track is well written. The songs are good and are an added bonus to the film.
Mr Majnu Movie Minus Points
The biggest minus point of the film is that it lacks basic emotional connect in the romance department. Venky Atluri created great chemistry between the lead pair in his debut film but not so much in Mr Majnu as the romance is water thin and the emotions between the lead pair are not carried well.
The story of the film is centuries old and there is nothing new to show in it. The second half is where things fall short as it is difficult to understand why the heroine takes forever to realize the hero's true love for herself. The basic drama needed for a love story is missing to some extent in the film.
Also, the supporting roles played did not add much to the depth of the film. The family feud is not dragged on unnecessarily in the first part to any extent just to establish the role of the protagonist. Such scenes often spoil the film.
Mr Majnu Movie technical aspects
Even though Thaman's music was fine to listen to, all his songs on-screen sound lovely. His background score was also quite impressive. The production values by BVSN Prasad were top notch as the London scenes were captured brilliantly by the camera team. The dialogues are clean and so was the production design. The editing is disappointing as around 10 minutes could have been edited in the second half.
Talking about director Venky Atluri, he has done a decent job with the film. His story idea is simple but he could not make the required script in the film. He starts the proceedings off quite interestingly but doesn't generate the required romance between the lead pair. There are some good comedy scenes which keep coming in between but the lack of depth in the love story makes the proceedings a bit sluggish.
Decision
Overall, Mr Majnu is a new age romantic drama with a good setup. But the lack of emotional connect in the love story takes things down a bit in the second half. The lead pair does well and handles the proceedings to an extent. According to Naveen, there is nothing new in the film but a few comedy episodes click here and there and keep the audience hooked. We suggest you control your expectations and go with the flow of this film which ends this weekend as a below average fare.
